SaratogaArtsFest will hold its annual fundraiser, Prelude, on Thursday, April 30, 6–9 p.m., at the Saratoga National Golf Club. This year’s event is titled Celebrating the Saratoga Springs Centennial: 1915–2015, to mark the 100th year since the signing of the city’s charter.

Music and dance performances at the event will reflect various decades from the past 100 years. Featured entertainers will be the barbershop quartet Primrose Lane and the Saratoga Savoy dancers. In addition there will be a live painting demonstration by artist Tom Myott and a photo booth with vintage props.

A complimentary signature cocktail, “The Centennial,” will be offered for the first hour, with a cash bar running throughout the evening. The event will offer food stations, passed hors d’oeuvres, and fabulous desserts.

A live auction will feature getaways with deluxe accommodations at Bromley Mountain, Vermont; the beaches of South Carolina; and Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. Other auction items include a special day at the Saratoga Race Course and tickets to the classical series at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

As part of the event, the ArtsFest’s annual Arts Star award will be presented to Yaddo, the Saratoga Springs artists’ community founded in 1900 by financier Spencer Trask and his wife Katrina, a poet. “This historic arts community offers residencies to professional creative artists from all nations and backgrounds,” said Dee Sarno, chair of the SaratogaArtsFest board. “For over a century, Yaddo has nurtured the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment.”

Tickets to Prelude are $75. Proceeds from the evening will support the monthly ArtsFestFriday events, to begin in September. “Each monthly event will be unique and exciting, and presented in a different venue,” said Sarno. “The progams will be multi-genre and multi-generational, always with an element of surprise. ArtsFestFridays will be an enriching experience for all.”
