Live Events–Introducing Arts Fest Fridays
The signature program of SaratogaArtsFest™–Arts Fest Fridays–brings together, celebrates, and promotes the area’s rich trove of cultural organizations, artists and performers during seasonal Friday night multi-genre extravaganzas. Events are free and open to all.
SaratogaArtsFest’s mission is to advance the visibility of the arts in Saratoga and bring community and arts organizations together by promoting collaboratively the arts year-round.
SaratogaArtsFest launched Arts Fest Fridays in 2015 with Vintage Beekman Street, a street fair that celebrated the rich history, music, food, and cultural traditions of the Irish, Italian, and African American communities that settled in the city’s West Side. Since then, Arts Fest Fridays have filled Universal Preservation Hall, the Tang Teaching Museum, the Spa Little Theater, High Rock Avenue Farmer’s Market, Spring Street Gallery, National Racing Museum, and more with performances by leading and emerging visual and performing artists.
SaratogaArtsFest traces its roots to 2001 when representatives from the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Skidmore College, Yaddo, the Saratoga County Arts Council, and other arts and community organizations first met to imagine an event that would advance the visibility of city’s amazing artistic and cultural resources. Collectively, this core group decided to hold an annual citywide arts festival that would take place over four days in June. They named the event SaratogaArtsFest and held the first festival in 2007. In its seven years of operation, the festival brought hundreds of new and acclaimed artists to venues throughout the city and built a loyal and enthusiastic fan base.
Changes in attendance and funding led the organization’s Board of Directors to consider new programming formats. With input from arts and community organizations, sponsors, and patrons, SaratogaArtsFest replaced the annual comprehensive program with a series of more focused arts events, each to be held in a different location. The series, dubbed “Arts Fest Fridays,” continues to grow and experiment while staying true to the organization’s longstanding mission to support the arts in all its forms.
SaratogaArtsFest welcomes you to learn more about our programs, attend our events, and help support our mission of providing innovative arts programs for all.
